Trifluoperazine acts by the inhibition of dopamine receptors, postsynaptically. It is basically a derivative of the compound piperazine phenothiazine. Trifluoperazine is mostly used in the therapy of psychotic anxiety, it may be of acute or chronic nature and rarely, in case of non-psychosis. In 1959, Trifluoperazine was introduced in the United States of America and was prescribed as an antipsychotic medication. This medication is available in parental formulations and oral solutions.   • If any bad symptoms arise like fever, extreme headache, or increased heartbeat rate, consult your doctor as soon as possible. At times, a deadly health problem may happen known as Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS).
  • If the patient is an aged person (above 65), chances of side effects are much high.
