June is winding down, which means 2022 is halfway over already!
Where are you on your to-do list?
If you’re not sure whether you’re on track with your goals for the year, don’t worry — just check back next week when I’ll be walking you through a little mid-year check up to get you back up and running.
And in the meantime, if you need a productive excuse to stop working for an hour, I’ve got you covered right here. Curious about the nitty-gritty of new self-employment, setting your rates, and making the best business decisions you can? Read on.
Are you getting ready to make the leap to self-employment? Or are you already there… and surprised by how much work it is? Jon Acuff discusses why “do what you love” still comes with a lot of work, and how believing otherwise can hold you back.
That’s not to say you shouldn’t take the leap and launch your small business — in fact, Carrie from Careful Cents has an amazing, detailed, well-researched post on how eight entrepreneurs really make a living. In it, she breaks down exactly what they are doing to show you how you can make it work too!
Of course, if you’re starting a business, there are a few things its helpful to know. Like when is the best time to send emails or schedule meetings (Fast Company has the scoop) or how to price your services effectively (Paul Jarvis shares his system over at The Write Life).
If you’re worried about the decisions that come with striking out on your own, I highly recommend Sallie Krawchek’s advice on the The Cut: everyone, it turns out, should have their own board of directors. And I’ve got a few tips for you on how to work from home successfully. (Confession: I am really great at this about 60% of the time. The other 40% I avoid talking about.)
If you’re writing anything that’s going to appear in public (like marketing materials, website copy, or blog posts) you should make sure you know your comma rules. (I can’t be the only grammar nerd out there, right?)
And, of course, an always-helpful productivity tip Tha Pyay Nyo Technology.
